My Massages

All of my massages are 75 to 90 minutes long. I charge a flat rate of $60. I do not take tips. A portion of my earnings support an annual medical mission trip to Belize.

My technique is informed by best practice, knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and seven years of massage experience. In those years, I have performed over 3,500 massages.

Multi-sensory Massage

Wholistic wellness is what my clients and I are striving to achieve. Ideally, massage therapy engages all of the senses. I play soft music for the ears. The aroma of an essential oil permeates the air to please the nose. Subtle, low lighting allows my clients to rest their eyes or sleep. My touch is firm, slow, appropriate and continuous to engage the muscles and fascia and to rejuvenate the skin. I use a hypoallergenic lotion that is heated. Finally, my clients and I enjoy a cool but not cold bottle of water following the massage – or at any time my client prefers.

Me, Massage, and Meaning

Last week was graduation for 10 students of the Dayton School of Medical Massage. I attended because I have assisted four of them in small ways to become licensed massage therapists. My own graduation from the same program was six and one half years ago. Thinking about the big changes in my life has been very enjoyable. Almost everything about my “encore” career has been positive. The daily routine, the learning required, new friends, and meaningful work are much more than expected or deserved in retirement.
